Overview

Informed is built on a simple principle: your data exists to make your experience better — nothing else. We collect only what we need, use it only to improve what you see and how the app works, and do not sell it, monetise it through advertising, or share it with parties who would.

This Privacy Policy explains exactly what we collect, why, and how. By using Informed, you agree to the practices described here. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.

Information We Collect

We collect the following categories of data. These categories correspond to the data types declared in our Apple App Store privacy nutrition label.

• Contact Info — your name and email address when you register or join our waitlist, used to manage your account and send notifications you have opted into.
• Identifiers — an internal account ID assigned to your profile, and a device-level identifier (e.g. vendor ID) used for security and to prevent duplicate accounts. We do not use advertising identifiers.
• Browsing History — articles and sources you view within the app, used solely to personalise your feed and bias-detection results. This data is not linked with external browsing activity or shared with advertisers.
• Diagnostics — crash logs, error reports, and performance metrics (e.g. launch time, hang rate) collected to identify and fix technical issues.

Apple App Store Privacy Disclosure

In accordance with Apple App Store requirements, the following summarises how collected data is used:

• Contact Info (Name, Email Address) — linked to your account; used for app functionality and optional communications. Not used for tracking.
• Identifiers (User ID, Device ID) — used for app functionality and security. Not used for advertising or tracking.
• Browsing History — articles viewed within the app; used to personalise your in-app experience. Not shared with third parties for advertising purposes.
• Diagnostics (Crash Data, Performance Data) — used solely to maintain and improve app stability. Not linked to your identity.

We do not collect Health & Fitness, Financial Info, Location, Sensitive Info, Contacts, Photos/Videos, Audio, or Advertising Data.

How We Use Your Information

Every piece of data we collect has a single purpose: making Informed work better for you. Specifically, we use it to:

• Deliver, operate, and continuously improve the app and its features.
• Personalise your news feed, bias-detection results, and source recommendations.
• Send you app updates, security notices, and product announcements you can opt out of at any time.
• Understand how the app is used so we can fix what isn't working and build what matters.
• Detect, prevent, and address fraud, abuse, or security incidents.
• Comply with applicable legal obligations.

We do not use your data to build advertising profiles, target you with ads, or generate revenue through any form of data monetisation. Our business model does not depend on selling or exploiting your information.

Sharing Your Information

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data. Sharing your data to make money is not part of how Informed operates. We may share data only in these limited, specific circumstances:

• Service providers — trusted vendors (e.g. cloud hosting, crash reporting) who process data on our behalf under strict confidentiality agreements and are prohibited from using it for their own purposes.
• Legal requirements — when required by law, court order, or governmental authority.
• Business transfers — in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, with advance notice provided to you.
• With your consent — for any other purpose, only with your explicit permission.

Data Retention

We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide our services. You may request deletion of your account and associated data at any time by contacting us at privacy@informed.app. We will fulfil deletion requests within 30 days, subject to any legal retention obligations.

Your Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights regarding your personal data, including:

• Access — request a copy of the data we hold about you.
• Correction — ask us to correct inaccurate or incomplete information.
• Deletion — request that we delete your personal data.
• Portability — receive your data in a machine-readable format.
• Opt-out — unsubscribe from marketing communications at any time.
• Restriction / Objection — restrict or object to certain processing of your data.

Cookies & Tracking

Our website uses minimal cookies for session management and anonymous analytics. Our iOS app does not use browser cookies. Limited on-device identifiers are used strictly to improve app performance and personalise your experience — not to track you across apps or websites.

We do not engage in cross-site tracking, behavioural advertising, or any form of third-party ad targeting. The Informed app is declared as "not tracking" under Apple's App Tracking Transparency framework.

Children's Privacy

Informed is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

Security

We implement industry-standard security measures — including encryption in transit and at rest — to protect your data. No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security, but we take our responsibility seriously and review our practices regularly.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top of this page and, for material changes, notify you via the app or by email. Your continued use of Informed after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
